"There is a familiar wave of experiences coming full circle in an artist’s life.

At 5 years old, my favorite brand was "PUNA". Despite the lisp, my mother knew what I meant. I vividly remember her buying me my pink and white PUMAs that I wore every time I went to the park. My friends and I would tie our shoelaces together as a sign of trust that we enjoy each other's company and we would always be together. This playground and park weren’t simply places to frolic and play, this is where I grew up.

Somehow I have taken to chasing after the sunset every day as I drive by the park on my way home. It’s important to me now because as a photographer it translates naturally and clearly on camera. I capture it on my phone because it helps me remember what time my neighborhood is blanketed in these golden rays, in case I want to see it again the next day.

The current circumstances of the pandemic has made us selective of whom we choose to spend our precious few minutes outside with. For me, it’s my friends and neighbors who are all around my age. We grab an iced coffee and head to the park often.

For this project, we hit a few snags along the way, like not being able to shoot at our initial location but at the back of my mind, I knew how the PUMA attire needed to be captured so I wasn’t worried." - Dana
